Sports Injuries Injuries to the foot and ankle should be treated by one of our highly trained podiatric doctors as soon as possible. No need to wait in an emergency room, call our office for a priority appointment. On site digital x-rays help the doctors to quickly and properly diagnose the injury and begin the proper treatment.

Until you can be treated by one of our doctors follow the "RICE" regimen. That is Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Rest the injured foot or ankle. Place an Ice pack on the injured area. Place a wrap on the injured for Compression in keep the swelling down. Keep the injured foot or ankle Elevated. Sprains: Hard sprinting often leads to stretched or torn ligament that may also cause ankle swelling, skin discoloration and pain, much like a fracture.

Fractures: Fractures occur when a bone has been broken sometimes causing swelling, discoloration of the skin, and pain.

Turf Toe: Occurs commonly on the playing field that bears the name of this type of sports injury, artificial turf. It is a painful hyperextension of the big toe joint and while competing on artificial turf is the leading cause of this condition, it can also occur on natural surfaces such as grass.
